July, 2000 - The Honorable Patrick J. Tiberi, Majority Leader and 26th District Representative,
presented the first 12 inductees into The Ohio Military Hall Of Fame their Medal
for Valor and Certificates of Induction today. This was accomplished by
presenting each Inductee with a Certificate from the House of Representatives.
The Inductees are but a small representation of those Ohioans who displayed Valor
Above and Beyond the call of duty in one of America's wars. The Medal for Valor
is awarded to those who have been decorated for Heroism on the battlefield under
combat conditions. There are no exceptions.
Today's recipients include the Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, MSG
Ronald E. Rosser, Korean War; Distinguished Service Cross Recipient, SGT
Dante P. Toneguzzo, WWII; Silver Star Recipient, CWO4 Gilbert H. Bolton,
Vietnam; Silver Star Recipient, PFC James F. Dolan, Jr., WWII; Silver Star
Recipient, 1LT (Deceased) Chalmers P. Wylie, WWII; Distinguished
Flying Cross Recipient, Senior Master Sergeant Terry K. Kerr, Desert Storm;
Bronze Star w/V Recipient, MSG Roger J. Holbrook, Vietnam; Bronze Star w/V
Recipient, CPL James R. White, Korean War; Bronze Star w/V Recipient,
MAJ Robert W. White, Sr., Vietnam; Air Medal w/V Recipient, SGT Edward I.
Arthur, Vietnam; Air Medal w/V Recipient, COL James D. Moore, Vietnam; and
Navy Commendation Medal w/V Recipient, RD3 George E. Bobb III.
Of significant interest is that 3 of the inductees, Ed Arthur (Age 13) and the
Founder of The Ohio Military Hall Of Fame, and the National Vice Commander of
The America Veterans Who Enlisted Underage; Jim White (Age 15) is a member;
and Bob White (Age 16), is State Commander of The American Veterans Who
Enlisted Underage. These veterans served on active duty prior to the age of 17.
The Honorable Chalmers P. Wylie continued to serve his country as a prominent
United States Congressman from the State of Ohio.
Representative Tiberi added "This group of brave Ohioans
exemplify their organization's motto, "All Gave Some, Some
Gave All" and reflect highly in the minds and hearts of our
Great State of Ohio and our Nation".
