The Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor will induct 20 Ohio Heroes into The Ohio Military Hall of Fame on Friday, May 2, 2008.
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor will induct 20 Ohio Heroes into The Ohio Military Hall of Fame on Friday, May 2, 2008. The ceremony will take place at Veterans Plaza, the Ohio Statehouse, 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.

The Class of 2008 includes representatives of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq.

These remarkable Ohioans have all gone above and beyond the call of duty and performed heroically in a specific combat action against an armed enemy of the United States of America.

Of significance, SPC Joseph G. LaPointe, Jr., Cincinnati, OH, and PFC Melvin E. Newlin, Cleveland, OH, have been awarded America’s highest award for Heroism, the Congressional Medal of Honor. This ceremony will bring the total number of Inductees to 141, of which, 4 have received the Congressional Medal of Honor.

ceremony is open to the public and will culminate with the singing of “God Bless The USA” by SGT Randy Snider, Whitehall Police Department, and a flyover by 3 Helicopters of 1-137th Aviation Bn, OHARNG. In addition, Co B, 2-19th Special Forces Group will provide a Static Display.

The Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor was established in 2000 to recognize Ohio Heroes who were decorated for heroism while in a combat situation. Please visit our web site to view all members, at www.ohioheroes.org.
