Private First Class Orville F. Frazier Class of 2012

Silver Star Medal

United States Army

Silver Star Medal

Orville F. Frazier, Private First Class, Headquarters Company 1st Battalion, 143rd Infantry Regiment for gallantry in action on 28 May 1944 in Italy. During a savage counterattack against his battalion Private First Class Frazier observed that three machine guns and several sub-machine guns had exhausted their supply of ammunition, he immediately left his place of cover and began carrying the urgently needed ammunition and grenades to the gun positions. He crossed wide stretches of open terrain under constant artillery, mortar and machine gun fire, although he was wounded several times and was almost blinded by blood he disdained evacuation and continued furnishing his comrades with machine gun ammunition. Mastering the pain of his wounds he enabled the guns to fire continuously, and he contributed materially to the final repulse of the attacks. His gallant action reflects great credit upon himself and the armed forces of the United States. Entered service from Aberdeen, Oh.
